The Archewell Foundation is proud to congratulate this year\u2019s recipient of the NAACP \u2013 Archewell Foundation Digital Civil Rights Award, Dr. Joy Buolamwini. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Joy is a computer scientist, digital activist and founder of the Algorithmic Justice League, an organization leading the way to overcome racist and sexist biases in artificial intelligence systems. In her book, \u201cUnmasking AI,\u201d she examines the social implications of technology and discusses the movement to prevent AI harms. As the recipient of this award, she will receive a grant of $100,000 to advance her work in supporting equity\u00a0and accountability in AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched in 2022, this annual award uplifts a new generation of leaders who are creating transformational change and working to advance civil rights through the online world.<\/p>\n\n\n
